What Size Flag Do I Need?
This is one of the most common questions we hear day after day. The short answer is that the flag should be sized in proportion to the flagpole from which it will fly. The trick is determining just what the correct proportions really are. Here are a few guidelines:
- Indoor displays on standing flagpoles: 3' x 5' or 4' x 6' flags
- Color Guards: 3' x 5' or 4¼' x 5¾' flags
- Angled home flagpoles: 3' x 5' flags
- Decorative seasonal flags: 34" x 44"
- Flags for outdoor flagpoles vary depending on the height of the pole. The diagonal measurement of the flag should be about 1/4 to 1/3 the height of the flagpole. See the table below for typical flag pole and flag size combinations.
| Height of Flag Pole | Recommended Size of Flag |
| 20 feet | 3 x 5 feet |
| 25 feet | 3 x 5 or 4 x 6 feet |
| 30 feet | 5 x 8 or 6 x 10 feet |
| 40 feet | 8 x 12 or 10 x 15 feet |
| 50 feet | 10 x 15 or 12 x 18 feet |
| 60 feet | 12 x 18 or 15 x 25 feet |
| 70 feet | 15 x 25 or 20 x 30 feet |
| 90 feet | 20 x 30 or 20 x 38 feet |
| 100 feet | 20 x 30 or 20 x 38 feet |
| 125 feet | 20 x 38 or 30 x 50 feet |
